Mechanical locks have evolved through three main types of cylinders: the flat cylinder, the computer-controlled cylinder, and the quantum cylinder. From the standard flat cylinder to the computer-controlled cylinder, the basic opening principle remains unchanged. The computer-controlled cylinder incorporates anti-picking pins, increasing the difficulty of technical unlocking. The quantum cylinder represents a significant leap forward, changing the two rows of pins from being on the same plane to being at a 90-degree angle, greatly increasing the difficulty of technical unlocking and marking a breakthrough for mechanical lock cylinders. We will now analyze these three types of cylinders in more detail.
